Sprawling from Grace: the Consequences of Suburbanization

Last Wednesday Film Night
Wednesday, September 26, 6:30 pm (film starts at 7)

This thought-provoking documentary explores the “consequences” as Americans have have moved from cities to suburbia, creating dependence on automobiles and foreign oil. A host of prominent figures — including former President Bill Clinton and former Governor Michael Dukakis — discuss innovative ways to build cities and our need for new energy strategies. We have been lulled into a false sense of security by cheap energy but with the demand for oil outpacing the Earth’s ability to supply it, this suburban living arrangement is unsustainable. The wake up call is coming and localization will be at the center of the solutions we need.
