Bike-friendly Downtown Hills Market to Open on N. Grant this Winter

The new 12,000-foot commercial space is expected to bring fresh, local ingredients and a community gathering place for the Downtown Columbus area. Spokeswoman for Food Works Inc. Jill Moorhead, which also operates the Hills Market on Olentagy River Rd, said in this recent Dispatch article that their research revealed that most of their clientele will come to the store by bike or on foot, so substantial bike corrals are being installed in their walking-friendly facility for the growing local population.

“We did some research and found that 60 percent of the respondents said they plan on coming to this Hills not in cars and expect to shop there almost daily,” Moorhead said in the Dispatch article. “We expect to have a very close relationship with the people who live close by.”

The village-style layout will include indoor and outdoor seating, curbside pickup locations, and other amenities to encourage walking and biking traffic, with the intent of becoming a community hot spot. The space is reportedly only creating about a dozen parking spots.
