Local program helps Ohio farmers

“A Farmer in Ohio struggles to earn a living wage growing quality produce while factory farms receive subsidies to produce ingredients for cheap animal feed and industrial products. Fresh, healthful food has become a privilege that is unavailable to many of our communities’ most vulnerable residents. The existing food system is broken and leads most of us to eat in a way that undermines our health, soil and energy resources, and the health of our local economy.

“Local Matters works alongside community members to transform this broken system – from empty lots to flourishing gardens, from fast-food eaters to conscious consumers, from empty kitchens to family dinners, and from neighborhoods with limited access to healthful food to empowered communities.”
